The inauguration of IAMRAI’s Centre of Excellence in Medical Engineering at the SHINE MedTech Hub, VIT, Vellore, held on 21 April 2026 at 10:30 AM, marked an important milestone in healthcare innovation.
The occasion was graced by Dr. Sanjay Behari, Director, SCTIMST, as the Chief Guest, and by the esteemed presence of Dr. Sandhya Pentareddy, Executive Director, VIT-Vellore; Dr. V. S. Kanchana Bhaaskaran, Vice-Chancellor, VIT-Vellore; Dr. Paratha Sarathi Mallick, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, VIT-Vellore; Dr. Joseph Vettukattil, Director IAMRAI, and Prof. Geetha Manivasagaram, Dean, SHINE, VIT-Vellore.
This landmark event signified the launch of transformative initiatives at the intersection of engineering, medicine, and innovation. Among its highlights was the unveiling of the VIT–IAMRAI Centre of Excellence in Medical Engineering, with focus areas in braided medical devices and medical imaging, including IAMRAI’s imaging division, IAMGING, and its first voxel-based 3D system, Voxecllence. Supported by IAMRAI through two advanced braiding machines from Jarek Czubinski, Polimed- Poland, the centre will drive the indigenous development of Nitinol-based cardiovascular devices, strengthening India’s Make in India mission by reducing costs and minimizing reliance on imported technologies.
